Mr. Royce Morris Strickland's Obituary
Funeral service for Mr. Royce Morris “Strick” Strickland, 85, of Dadeville, will be Monday, March 21, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the Union United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Union United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 21, 2016 from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall of the Union United Methodist Church.
Mr. Strickland passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016 at East Alabama Medical Center. He was born on September 3, 1930 in Brundidge, Alabama to Ray Vaughn Strickland and Guelma Gray Strickland. He was an active member of Union United Methodist Church ,served as a trustee, prepared communion, built furniture for the Church and read the Bible through many times. He worked for over 30 years at the James River Paper Mill and retired as a Foreman. He retired in 1989 and moved to Lake Martin in 2000 fulfilling his lifelong dream. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and Alabama Football.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jane Golden Strickland of Dadeville; daughters, Vyvylan S. Miller (Ray), of Northport, Tina M. Strickland of Linden, Laura S. Jordan (Coyt), of Panama City, FL, Susan S. Morrow (Mason), of Dothan; grandchildren, Russell Morris Miller (Regan), Amanda Jane Tupper (Andrew), Hannah Jordan, Paul Morrow (Maggie), Shelby Morrow; great-grandchildren, Lachlan Miller and Jane Marie Tupper; a special niece Sandy Copeland and her husband James; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Imogene Strickland Gibson; and brothers, Marlin Strickland and Vaughn Strickland.
