Sandra Kay Simpson Mosley went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday October 28, 2025 after many health issues. Sandra was affectionately known as Mamma, Mrs. Sandra, Nana, Sister, Aunt Sammy and laughingly and lovingly “Cooter Kay” to her large and beautiful family.
Sandra was born in Clay County Alabama on September 5, 1955. The eighth of nine children born to James Manson and Inez Baker Simpson. Prior to her being born, her mom and dad had one daughter and six sons. Her sister Shirley was the first born, followed by brothers, Larry, Bobby, Charles, Ronnie, John and Gary. Needless to say, Shirley and Mamma welcomed another female after all those boys.
Sandra worked as a waitress for many years in the Opelika-Auburn area, until her health declined. Her most memorable waitress jobs were at the famous Kopper Kettle Restaurant and The Sani Freeze Dairy Barn in the heart of Auburn Alabama. After these restaurants closed she went on to work for Dennys, Sambos and The Omelet Shop.
She never faltered in her loving care that she gave her customers. That same love and care was affectionately and admirably given to her family. Sandra was a very good cook and she enjoyed preparing meals for her family. Her fried chicken dinners were enjoyed by all. She had her mamma’s love for everyone deep in her heart. Sandra never met a stranger and she loved to go to shop for bargains at thrift stores. To know Sandra was to love her.
Sandra leaves to cherish her memory to many loved ones. Daughter-in-law Darlene Johns Mosley, son Adrian (Beth) Mosley, son William (Tiffany) Mosley, son Matthew (Laura) Mosley, son Travis (Jackie) Williams all of Dadeville Alabama. 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Brothers Ronnie, John (Iris), Gary (Arlene) and sister, Linda G. Ward and many nieces and nephews.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse James Luther Mosley, Sr., Son James Luther (Jamie) Mosley, Jr., sister Shirley Smith, Brothers Larry, Bobby and Charles (Red) Simpson.
