Mrs. Sara L. Davis' Obituary
Graveside Service for Mrs. Sara L. Davis, 100, of Auburn, will be Sunday, August 24, 2025, at 3:00 pm at the Dadeville City Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Redmond will officiate.
Sara L. Davis, a beacon of love and a pillar of faith, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, at the remarkable age of 100. Born on May 31, 1925, to Curtis W. Whitaker and Hattie Whitaker, Sara was a woman whose life was characterized by her loving nature, her unwavering faith, and her passionate commitment to her family and community.
Sara, affectionately known by those closest to her, was a cherished individual who touched the lives of many. She was the beloved matriarch of her family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength. Sara is survived by her devoted son, Jimmy "J.D." (Kim) Davis, Sr. of Auburn, AL, and her adoring grandchildren, who will hold her memory dear across generations, including seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life. Her spirit will continue to live on through the cherished moments shared with numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom she loved deeply.
Sara's journey through life was marked not only by the love she received but also by the love she gave. She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis W. Whitaker, her mother, Hattie Whitaker, her daughter, Beverly Ann Gilliland, her brother, Curtis Wayne Whitaker, her husband, Joe Daniel Davis, and her sister, Betty Rose Jones. Each of these individuals played a significant role in shaping the woman she became, and they were warmly remembered by Sara throughout her life.
A devout Christian, Sara's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. She lived her beliefs through her actions, offering compassion, support, and wisdom to all who knew her. Her faith-filled presence provided a source of comfort and guidance to her family, friends, and community, reflecting the love she had for her Creator and her unwavering trust in His plan.
Sara's passion for life was evident in everything she did. Whether she was nurturing her family, supporting her friends, or engaging with her community, she did so wholeheartedly. Her laughter was contagious, her advice was sought after, and her ability to love unconditionally was unparalleled.
As we bid farewell to Sara L. Davis, we celebrate a life well-lived-a life filled with purpose, joy, and an abundance of love. While we will miss her physical presence, we take solace in knowing that her spirit will continue to guide us, just as it always has. Sara's legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched, and her story will be told with fondness and admiration by those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Sara's life was a testament to the beauty that can be created when one leads with love and faith. As we reflect on her century of life, we are reminded of the impact one person can have on the world. Sara L. Davis was truly one of a kind, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
