Sara Nell Harris Knight passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Lake Martin Community Hospital. Born on September 11, 1939, in Alexander City, Alabama, she was the daughter of Mr. Clyde E. Harris and Mrs. Thelma Freeman Harris. She was a faithful member of Eagle Creek Baptist Church and often found comfort through her daily reading of scripture. It is said that God broke the mold when he created Sara Nell. She was a good ole southern woman with a unique personality that truly made her a sight of a person. Sara Nell enjoyed the simple things in life whether it was canning vegetables that her husband would grow in his garden, watching various types of birds gather at the feeder, or sitting down to enjoy some quality RFD-TV with 'The Andy Griffith Show' ranking the highest.
No one ever went hungry when it came time to eat if Sara Nell was in the kitchen. Her cooking was legendary and her specialty was guaranteed to be the best fried chicken you'd ever had-complete with homemade biscuits. Not only did she enjoy cooking food, but Sara Nell loved to eat food, with catfish and Burger King being her favorites. She was an animal lover but had a soft spot for cats in particular.
The one thing that Sara Nell loved more than anything was her family. She was a devoted wife to her husband until his passing in 2020 and a fun "Maw Maw Knight" to her grandson. Her favorite title, Mama, was given by her daughter whom she loved so much. When her daughter was young, the duo could be seen performing together at church on Sundays-Manda playing piano and Sara Nell singing along. She also had a natural ability as a seamstress and would make Manda's Sunday dresses by hand, complete with laces and sleeves that made her daughter proud to wear. Sara Nell was the kind of woman that is hard to say goodbye to and impossible to replace. Her loving heart, kind soul, and unique light was as beautiful as the roses she admired. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Sara Nell is survived by her daughter, Manda (Ted) Greer; grandson, Christopher Luke Greer, niece, Debbie (Bill) Thornell; nephew, Gary Harris; and cousin, Katie Maude Lightsey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Carnal Knight; parents, Clyde & Thelma Harris; brother, Aaron Harris; and nephew, Randy Harris.
Langley Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Sara Nell Knight.
