Selwyn Carol Davis' Obituary
Funeral service for Mr. Selwyn Carol Davis, 89, of Jackson's Gap, will be Sunday, October 5, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Jackson's Gap Baptist Church. Rev. Charlie Horton will officiate. Burial will be in the Jackson's Gap Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 5, 2014 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm at Jackson's Gap Baptist Church.
Mr. Davis passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at his residence. He was born on January 26, 1925 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to Henry Comer Davis and Inez Loyd Davis. He was a member of Jackson's Gap Baptist Church and owned the Carol Davis General Merchandise Store in town. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served from 1944-1946. Mr. Davis retired after 32 years of service as the Jackson’s Gap Postmaster. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, working in the yard, and other outdoor activities. Mr. Davis was also a coin collector and an avid NASCAR and Auburn football fan.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Jo Harrelson Davis of Jackson's Gap; daughters, Linda D. Abbett (Jimmy) of Dadeville and Delores D. Musser (Stephen) of Auburn; grandchildren, Chris Abbett (Glenda), Candy Harkins (Wayne), Selwyn S. Musser, Matthew S. Musser; great-grandchildren, Kyle C. Harkins and Kade A. Harkins; brother, Wayne Davis (Ann) of Jackson's Gap; sister-in-law, Doris Davis of Alexander City; brother-in-law, John Wilson of Tallassee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Levis Dyson and Marie Wilson; and brother, Vinson Davis.
The family will accept flowers of contributions to Jackson’s Gap Baptist Church, 23 East Church Street, Jackson’s Gap, AL 36861.
