Stephen Howard Simmons' Obituary
Mr. Stephen Howard Simmons, 73, of Dadeville, Alabama, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024 at his home. He was born on April 28, 1950 in Birmingham, Alabama, to Mr. Haskel Howard Simmons and Mrs. Grace Viola Kirkpatrick Simmons.
Steve developed into a man of great intelligence as he started his career as a CPA for Edward Wroitzious and Associates. After, he transitioned to the University of South Alabama where he worked in Accounting. Due to his skill and dedication, Steve became the Chief Administrator over the three hospitals owned by the university. He retired for about 5 years before he went back to the University of South Alabama to become the Assistant Vice President of Finance. During that time, Steve played a key part in the founding of the USA Football team and helped to oversee their finances. He served his last tenure as the Vice President for Finance at USA before heading to Lake Martin to enjoy his official round of retirement.
When he wasn't busy with work, Steve was an avid golfer who also enjoyed reading science fiction, playing video games, and a good game of bridge. He was a frugal, loving man who was interested in everything that life had to offer him. The adventure was complete with his life partner of 53 years, Regina Scwarz Simmons, by his side every step of the way.
Steve is survived by his wife, Regina S. Simmons; son, Sean P. Simmons; daughter, Regina T. Simmons; grandchildren, Cole Simmons, Avery Simmons; sister, Patricia Cox; and brother, Greg (Carol) Simmons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Haskel and Grace Simmons; and his brother, Mike Simmons.
Langley Funeral Home is honored to serve the Simmons family.
