Tennie Louise McLain Ramsey's Obituary
Tennie Louise McLain Ramsey, 75, of Notasulga passed away on July 23, 2026 at the Bethany House.
Louise was born May 19, 1951, she graduated with honors from Notasulga High School in 1969, married Ronnie Ramsey in December 1969, attended Opelika Technical School and then traveled and lived in 3 states with Ronnie during his service with the U.S. Navy, majority of the 4 ½ years was in San Diego, CA. They returned to Notasulga in 1974 to establish their home. Louise began her career when she was hired as Town Clerk of the Town of Notasulga in August 1974. She served in this position until October 1, 2000, when she became the Mayor of the Town of Notasulga. She retired in 2004 and moved to a country home, still in Notasulga. Louise loved her job and all the people.
In 1981, she undertook a sideline job assisting Myron Harmon with tax preparation. In 1998 she began her own tax preparation and bookkeeping sideline business. She operated this business until November 2025. In 2016 she saw a need for a non-profit to help the people of Notasulga and the surrounding area. Giving was her gift. She campaigned for the cause of children, veterans, and animals. Louise was an active member of Sardis Church, Dadeville, AL, joining in 1995. She was saved at a young age then baptized in the Holy Spirit in 2010 and began a deeper relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She always stressed that all she did for the church and people was for the Glory of God.
Louise is survived by her sisters, Sandra Carswell and Bobbi (Tommy) Miller; her “stolen” son, Russell McAuley; her sister from other parents, Cathy Kelley; her nieces, Carrie (Brad) Mitchell, Jennifer Miller, Lori Walker; her nephews, David Gresham, Chip (Simona) Miller, Billy (Ashley) Ramsey, Blake (Lindsay) Ramsey, Brady Ramsey, and Matt Bryant; her special friends, Sardis Church family; her brothers and sisters in Christ from many churches; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and a special friend Gayle Berry.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ronnie Ramsey; her parents, Bill McLain and Carolyn Goodson McLain (Waites); brother-in-law, Roy Carswell; sister-in-law, Alicia Bryant; brother-in-law, Danny Ramsey; and father-in-law, Arcie Ramsey.
A Celebration of Life Service will be Sunday, July 26, 2026 at 3:00 pm at Saris Church, 10367 AL Hwy 50, Dadeville, AL. Rev. Stephen King will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm at Sardis Church. Burial will follow at 4:30 pm at Notasulga Memory Gardens.
