Mr. Thomas Nielsen's Obituary
Thomas Nielsen, 69, of Dadeville AL passed away July 7th, 2020 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika AL.
Born August 15th, 1950 to the late Peter Nielsen and Anne Misencik Nielsen he was the husband of Mary A. DeVivo Nielsen. Mr. Nielsen was a graduate of Stratford High School class of 1969 in Stratford Connecticut. He served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1973 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving on the USS Independence. He was an active member of Red Ridge UMC in Dadeville AL. Mr. Thomas enjoyed vacationing with his wife, Nascar, fishing and boat rides on the lake, Auburn and Penn State football, and UCONN ladies’ and men’s basketball. He was an ambulance and water truck driver for the Stillwater Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Nielsen was also the President of the Bethlehem, CT Lions Club from 1988-1989.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Mary A. Nielsen; sister, Barbara Brown (David) of Statford, CT. and brother, William Nielsen (Linda) of Wolcott, CT.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A private service will be held at a later date.
