Ms. Verna W.D. Hamby's Obituary
Funeral Service for Verna W.D. Hamby, 78, of Dadeville, Alabama, will be Friday, January 15, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home. Rev. Bobby Ned Duck, Rev. Freddie Senn, and Rev. Reggie Gabel will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Langley Funeral Home.
Verna passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at East Alabama Medical Center. She was born on November 4, 1942 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to Jack Daniel Walker and Pauline Price Walker. Verna loved her family dearly; especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, playing Rook and other card games, playing computer games, and going to gospel singings. Verna was an excellent cook and always helped others in need. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Verna retired after 25 years as Water and Gas Clerk for the City of Dadeville.
She is survived by her son, Michael Duck (Jelene); daughter, Mary D. Adams (Tim); grandchildren, Ansley Carpenter (Tripp), Courtney Adams (Tanner), Logan Duck (Shelby), and Austin Ledford; great-grandchild, Bentley Adams, Madison Adams, and Braxton Carpenter, and brother, Billy Walker (Peggy).
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ray Duck; son, James Randall Duck; parents, and brothers, Nolan Walker, Roland Walker, and Jerry Walker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church or Fellowship Baptist Church.
