I am thankful to the Lord for the life and memory of Sister Langley and for the great influence she had on my life. She encouraged me in my walk with the Lord as a new believer in St. Kitts island in the Caribbean in 1962. I received from her a deep appreciation for God-honoring Christian music and a deep desire to memorize the Word of God. Because of her influence, I was able to attend Oklahoma Baptist University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Sister Langley encouraged me greatly during my service for the Lord as pastor, Christian educator and Christian media worker in St. Kitts, Antigua, St. Thomas, Barbados, the Cayman Islands and Florida, USA. The last time I spoke to her by phone at the nursing facility, she told me that she prayed for me and my family often, even after all these years and she encouraged me to "hide" God's Word in my heart. I still have a vivid picture in my head of Sister Langley running through the rain in St. Kitts to retrieve an American flag that was being washed away in the muddy waters. Another warm memory I have is of her encouraging me, one of the "young preacher boys" at the Antioch Baptist Church in St. Kitts, as she played her accordion in the many street meetings we had all across the island. This great woman of God touched my life in a way that has greatly influenced my ministry all these years. I thank God for sending her my way. May she now find perfect rest in the arms of her loving Lord. To God be the glory!
