Mrs. Brown passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Emory University Hospital after a brain aneurysm. She was born on September 27, 1949 in Tallassee, Alabama to Robert E. Trussell and Margie Smith Trussell. She was a lifelong member of Sardis United Methodist Church in Dadeville and active with Pine Grove Baptist Church in Camp Hill.
Mrs. Brown was a proud graduate of Camp Hill High School, Class of 1967. She then completed her Associate's Degree at Alex City Junior College. She retired from the State of Alabama after 42 years of service. In the late 70's Weona had a role as Sally Field's stand in for the movie Norma Rae. They loved her so much they asked her to play the role as the hot dog vendor as well. Her passions in life were The Lord, Bible studies, where she grew up in the Pine Grove/Camp Hill area “up country”, Opelika Bulldogs as a majorette mom, Camp Hill High School, thimbles, books and reading, and trinkets and doo-dads. Mrs. Brown loved her family (especially being “Nana”) and friends dearly and cherished her relationships with all them. She enjoyed so much keeping up with everybody on facebook and telling everyone how much she loved them.
She is survived by her husband, David Earl Brown of Opelika; daughter, Stephanie Pinckard (Kyle); grandchildren, Christopher, Meredith, Lucas and Ann Russell Pinckard, all of Boaz; her cat, Honey, and numerous family members and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
