Mr. Wilbur Clarence High's Obituary
Funeral service for Mr. Wilbur Clarence High, 93, of Waverly, will be Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home. Rev. Blue Vardaman will officiate. Burial will follow in the Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Langley Funeral Home.
Mr. High passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Bethany House. He was born on August 25, 1921 in Camp Hill, Alabama to Clarence Ross High and Ozella McGinty High. He was a member of Waverly United Methodist Church. He was a proud graduate of Alabama Polytechnic Institute and was a Sales Representative for Certified Chemical Labs. He was a great storyteller, wood worker, and horticulturist. Mr. High was a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan High Marshall (Doug), of Waverly, AL; son, Dr. William Ross High, Sr. of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Dana Hood Drwila (Dave), Major William Daniel Hood (Angie), Jonathan Sydney Marshall, Kristen High Keeney (Don), William Ross High, Jr., Charles Randall High, David Timothy High; and great-grandchildren, Madeline and Caroline Hood and Will and Anna Shaw Keeney.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mayme Sue Mayberry High; his parents; and sister, Marie High Lovelace.
