Mrs. Janice Johnson Hamilton's Obituary
Janice Johnson Hamilton was a caring wife, mother, sister, and friend. She passed away on October 19, 2021 at the age of 72 after a short and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Janice was born to Emmett and June Johnson on June 28, 1949. After graduating from Auburn University, she met her husband, Don Hamilton. They were married 49 years and had 2 children: Patrick and Philip.
Janice was a dedicated educator with Huntsville City Schools for 33 years. Her pride was in her school and students, and she shared her passion for learning with thousands of children over the years.
Connecting with people brought great joy to Janice. She loved spending time with family, friends, and neighbors at her home on Lake Martin. She enjoyed traveling, rooting for the Auburn Tigers, and caring for her dogs. She had an uncanny ability to brighten up a room with her bubbly personality. Her smile and inquisitive nature ensured she made new friends everywhere she went.
Janice is preceded in death by her father Emmett V. Johnson, mother June Ledbetter Johnson and brother Philip D. Johnson. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Don; her sons, Patrick (Pam) and Philip (Kristen), a cousin (Bob Turner) and several in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will take place at Langley Funeral Home in Camp Hill, Alabama on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home in Camp Hill on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 11:00 am. Private Graveside services will follow at Union Church Cemetery in Union Community, Alabama for family only. Pastor Ross Kilpatrick will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society or your local animal shelter on her behalf.
