Ms. Melissa "Dawne" Sanders White's Obituary
Memorial service for Ms. Dawne White, 58, of Bowdon, Georgia will be Sunday, February 13, 2022 at 3:00 pm (CT) at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home (21837 US Hwy 280, Camp Hill, Alabama 36850) with Rev. Freddie Seen officiating. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, February 13, 2022 from 1:00 pm (CT) until 2:30 pm (CT) at Langley Funeral Home.
Dawne passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022. Dawne was born on October 14, 1963 in Alexander City, AL. She grew up in Dadeville, graduating Dadeville High School in 1982. She continued her education at Jacksonville State University, where she received both her bachelors and master’s degrees. She received her 2nd master’s from Strayer University. Dawne was a beloved daughter, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was married for 21 years to her soul mate, Ricky White who died in 2014.
As the Director of Career Services at West GA Technical College, she was well respected and loved by coworkers and students. In August 2021, she was also named President of the Georgia Association of Colleges and Employers. In her off time, she loved working with her close friend to design one-of-a-kind apparel and gifts for family and friends.
She is survived by her stepchildren, Matt White and Alicia Morgan; her grandchildren, Lauren, Jackson, Hunter, Sawyer, Silas, and Asher; her mother Patsy Cotney; stepmother Clara Sanders; her siblings, James Sanders (Kathryn), Julie Sanders Wilson (Tucker), David Cotney, Mitchell Cotney, Matt Sanders (Tiffany), Steve Cotney, Debbie Bennett (Butch), and Edward Cotney (Laura); and many nieces and nephews who love her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ricky White, and her father, Bobby Sanders.
