Nancy Washburn Kolen's Obituary
Nancy Washburn Kolen went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, October 5th, 2021, at the age of 73 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was preceded in her death by her parents, Henry Roy "Skeeter" Washburn, Jr. and Hollon Louise Bishop Washburn. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, John Michael Kolen; two children: her daughter Kelly Kolen Morris and husband Duncan Morris, and her son John Michael Kolen Jr.; five grandchildren: Ann Hollon Morris Schaffeld and husband Thomas Schaffeld, Duncan Morris Jr., John Morris, Francie Morris, and John Michael Kolen III; and three siblings: Henry Roy "Chipper" Washburn III and wife Marcia Lambert Washburn, Jennifer "Jenny" Washburn Moeller and husband Chester "Chet" Charles Moeller II, and Johnny Edward Washburn and wife Jennifer Welsch Washburn. Nancy was born on February 8, 1948, in Dadeville, Alabama.
Nancy loved Jesus, her husband of 52 years, family, and friends dearly. Despite the nature of her disease and its effects on her mind over the past few years, her countenance always lifted in the presence of her husband. Nancy co-led and was an integral part in the formation of Bible Study Fellowship in Montgomery. She later had a successful career as a real estate agent and loved the relationships she had with her coworkers and clients.
The family will have a graveside service Sunday, October 10, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Dadeville City Cemetery.
