Robert Bailey Hayes' Obituary
Memorial service for Mr. Robert Bailey Hayes, 88, of Dadeville, will be Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Chapel of Langley Funeral Home with Rev. Ben Arellano officiating.
Mr. Hayes passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at his residence. He was born on July 26, 1926 in West Orange, New Jersey to Norman Hayes and Zada Bailey Hayes. Bob proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of WWII. He earned his Mechanical Engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey, and worked for IBM for 27 years until his retirement in 1988. He attended O.L.L.I.E. classes at Auburn University and even taught one of their Chinese History classes. Bob was an avid reader, loved doing research, was an advisor to many, and raised and adored his family of pet wolves. Mr. Hayes was known and loved by many in the community and was awarded the 1996 Citizen of the Year for Dadeville and was a member of the Dadeville Kiwanis where he served as Treasurer from 1994 to 2004.
He is dearly loved and will be missed by his wife of 40 years, Elizabeth Brannon Hayes of Dadeville; Children, Lisa Peters and son-in-law, Pete, of Dadeville, Barbara Ann Bercik of Duluth, Georgia, and Brannon Craig of Kennesaw, GA; His ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
